Aubrey Drake Grahamnow has an annual Holiday in H-Town! June 10th is now declared “Drake Day” in Houston Texas. The Canada native rapper posted a picture on Instagram stating that the mayor of Houston, Annise D. Parker, declared that residents will honor him annually on June 10th. The special announcement was given at Minute Maid Park on the field before an Astro’s Game.
“This is where I birthed my career. This is where I sold out my first show. This is where I met Lil Wayne. This is where it all started for me.” Drake told fans.
Drake will be recognized for his hits such as “Started from the bottom” and “Best I ever had” amongst others songs.
Parkers proclamations reads the following:
“Whereas in 2008, Lil Wayne invited Drake to fly to Houston and tour with him and as a result, Drake has been a Houston ambassador paying homage to Houston through his lyrics. He frequently mentions Houston in his songs such as when he coined the term “HoustatLantaVegas” and has also been known to show kindness to citizens of Houston. Drake will be hosting the Inaugural Houston Appreciation week and Whereas the city of Houston Commends and appreciates Drake for dedicating his time to Houston through his passion and enthusiasm for music and our city”.
